General Description
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides competent nursing care to a variety of patients with conditions ranging from simple to complex in an outpatient surgical setting.
Essential Responsibilities
These responsibilities are fundamental to the position. Inability to perform them, with or without reasonable accommodation, may result in disqualification.

Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients

Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments

Notes and acts upon any changes in physician orders

Assists physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures

Monitors patients’ physiological data and responds to changes appropriately
-
Administers medications, including IV infusions and blood products
-
Delivers competent, compassionate patient care
-
Communicates care plans with patients and families, both during hospital stay and at discharge

Educates patients and families on hospital procedures
-
Refers patients to appropriate services as needed
-
Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
-
Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures

Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate patient care

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with colleagues
-
Effective verbal and written communication skills
-
Ability to respond to diverse cultural and language needs

Basic computer proficiency

Education Requirements
Required:
-
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Preferred:
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board-approved program
Certifications & Licensure
Required:

Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or valid multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
-
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
-
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
