Travel: RN Med Surg

Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Riverton Campus, WY (may float to Lander campus as needed)
Assignment Type: Contract

The Med/Surg Registered Nurse provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. The role involves caring for a diverse patient population, including pre- and post-surgical patients, and occasionally pediatric/adolescent patients (note: SageWest does not have a dedicated pediatric unit).

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans

• Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, subcutaneous, IV), documenting per policy and reporting adverse reactions

• Educate patients regarding surgical procedures and treatment plans

• Record patient medical information and vital signs accurately and timely

• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment and interpret electronic displays

• Initiate corrective action as needed when patients display adverse symptoms

• Provide bedside care for a wide range of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgical care

• Implement physician-prescribed patient education plans for illness/injury management and post-discharge home care

• Perform nursing procedures such as dressing changes, catheter insertion, and IV initiation

• Assist physicians during examinations and treatments

• Respond to emergency and life-saving situations in accordance with nursing standards and hospital protocols

• Participate in patient discharge planning

• Utilize strong time management and documentation skills to ensure high-quality care

• Other duties as assigned, depending on unit needs

• Certifications (must be attached to submission):

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)

  • BLS (American Heart Association)

  • PALS (American Heart Association)

• Licensure: WY RN license or compact/multi-state RN license (must be attached to resume)

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting

• Must be flexible to float between Riverton and Lander campuses as census requires
