Purchasing managers are responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing buyer activities. They make sure all products purchased meet their organization's needs.

A day in the life of a purchasing manager might include:
• Controlling inventory, budgets and submitting purchase orders and requisitions
• Supervising staff members within the purchasing department
• Negotiating contracts, resolving claims and/or complaints with vendors
• Preparing reports involving bids, costs and market conditions to executives.
