Job Description: Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I)
Job Title: Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I
Location: Boynton Beach, FL
Duration: 2+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM EST
Work Schedule: Tuesday – Thursday and Saturday
Position Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the company, providing exceptional patient care during specimen collection visits. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients. The PSR I plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and excellence in both clinical and forensic specimen collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate test requisitions
- Explain blood draw procedures clearly and professionally to patients
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment in compliance with all safety and infection control standards
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection duties accurately and confidently
- Maintain required records, documentation, and patient data with strict confidentiality
- Demonstrate organizational values and leadership behaviors
- Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
- Perform daily activities accurately and within required timeframes under the direction of the area supervisor
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, or on-call as required based on staffing needs
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry
Education & Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
- One (1) or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong phlebotomy skills with pediatric and geriatric patients
- Knowledge of specimen handling and processing procedures
- Patient-focused approach with professionalism and empathy
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
