The Registered Nurse – Mother/Baby provides comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics, and Nursing Standards of Practice. This role functions as a clinical leader on the unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal maternal and newborn outcomes.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-based nursing care to mother/baby patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Delegate, direct, and support licensed and ancillary staff to ensure quality outcomes.
- Educate patients and families based on identified learning needs and cultural considerations.
- Promote patient safety, satisfaction, and adherence to standards of care.
- Serve as a leader and active partner within the interdisciplinary care team.
- Maintain accountability for clinical practice, documentation, and patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions.
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience (Mother/Baby or L&D preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing (ADN/BSN).
- Specialty certification in Mother/Baby, Women’s Health, or related clinical area.
Additional Notes:
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases is expected.
- Physical demands include standing, lifting, and patient handling.
- Safety-sensitive position within a healthcare environment.
