Location: Cincinnati, OH – 45219
Duration: 3 Months+ (Extension Possible)

Shift: Day Shift | 36 Hours/Week | Every Other Weekend Required
Compensation:

• Local: $50 – $55/hr (W2)
• Travel: $1,700 – $2,000 Gross Weekly

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med-Surg Stepdown unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment, cardiac care expertise, and the ability to manage patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced interventions.
The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Care delivery is patient-centered, culturally sensitive, and aligned with professional nursing standards and regulatory guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac stepdown patients with moderate to high acuity
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor clinical status
• Interpret telemetry and ECG rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in condition
• Administer and titrate IV cardiac drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone) per protocol
• Deliver care for patients with acute MI, arrhythmias, heart failure, and post cardiac/vascular procedures
• Assist with and monitor patients undergoing cardioversion and electrophysiology procedures, including conscious sedation support
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care
• Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and quality standards
• Communicate effectively with physicians, peers, and ancillary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other stepdown units as required based on staffing needs

 
Required Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2+ years of Stepdown experience
• Strong experience with cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Lasix, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, etc.)
• Proficient in ECG/telemetry interpretation
• ACLS Certification
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Unit Details – Telemetry Stepdown:

• 28-bed Cardiac Medical Stepdown unit
• Specializes in post-procedural recovery (vascular & electrophysiology)
• Patient population includes:
  • Acute MI
  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • Syncope
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Heart failure
• Advanced care capabilities:
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring
  • IV medication titration
  • Conscious sedation for cardioversions
• All RNs are ACLS certified and ECG-trained
• Strong pathway for nurses transitioning into ICU
