Location: Portland, ME 04102
Duration: 2 Months+ (Possibilities of Extension)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 hours/week)
Weekend Requirement: Every other or every third weekend, as needed
Call Requirement: None
Float Requirement: Yes – Float to med/surg patients on other units
Unit Information
- Unit Name: Medical Surgical Unit
- Number of Beds: 25
- Patient Ratio (Nights): 5–6:1
- Common Equipment: Telemetry monitoring
- EMR: EPIC (proficiency required)
Patient Population
Medical:
- COPD
- CHF
- Pancreatitis
- Cellulitis
- Sepsis
- Influenza
- COVID-19
- Diabetes-related infections
- SBO
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Exploratory laparotomy
- Bowel reversal
- Immunocompromised patients
- Dehydration
- Infections
- Joint replacements (knees, hips, shoulders)
- Appendicitis
- Abdominal pain
Candidate Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of Medical/Surgical experience preferred
- Strong telemetry background
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Telemetry certification
- Proficient in telemetry monitoring and general med/surg care
- Strong adaptability
- Prior travel nurse experience

- Code Pink
- Code Silver
- Fall prevention
- EPIC training
- Incident reporting (RL)
- Safe patient handling
- 1:1 orientation with unit leadership
Dress Code:
- Scrubs: Blue/White
- Undershirts: Any color acceptable
- Appearance: Must maintain a professional appearance
- Unacceptable Attire: Not specified, but must meet hospital professional standards
