Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in accordance with established standards and practices under the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. This role applies professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN maintains continuous communication and interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors.

Job Summary:

The RN maintains continuous communication and interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient care following professional nursing standards and organizational policies
- Assess patient conditions, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Identify and resolve patient care problems effectively
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Communicate clearly and professionally in all situations
- React calmly and efficiently in emergency and high-stress situations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice
- Understanding of organizational policies, patient safety hazards, and precautions
- Proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving in clinical settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain composure and deliver care under stress or emergency conditions
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping
- Regular lifting/moving patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Frequent use of fine motor skills and hand dexterity
- Constant reaching, talking, and hearing (corrected to normal range)
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, infectious materials, and communicable diseases
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment
- May require working irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and being on call based on departmental needs
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- BSN degree preferred, or required within five (5) years of hire
- Exceptions apply for current RN teammates transferring within the same department
- Successful completion of continuing education and compliance with nursing standards
