Hours: 07:00 – 17:30
Shift Length: 12 hours
Weekend Rotation: Variable
On Call: Variable call back; minimum 2 hours – 1 weekday and 1 weekend every 8 weeks max

Education:
- Associate’s Degree: Nursing. Required.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after 1/1/2017 (SHGR). Required.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Science in Nursing must be obtained within 7 years for those who start in RN role between 1/1/2013 – 12/31/2016 (SHGR). Required.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in RN role on or after 1/21/2024 . Required.
Experience:
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC: Issuer: Client. Department: N/A. Time Frame: 90 Days. Required.
- Specialty Certification – Unknown: Issuer: Unknown. Department: N/A. Time Frame: Upon Hire. Preferred.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA: Issuer: American Heart Association. Department: CHS (Niles and SJ Hospital). Time Frame: 2 Yrs. Preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and in accordance with health system policies, procedures, and ANA/regulatory standards. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient/family advocate. Performs point-of-care testing as required.
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. Makes decisions based on ethical principles using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
- Assesses overall needs of patients/families and analyzes assessment data to identify potential diagnoses or issues.
- Identifies expected outcomes/goals and develops/implements an individualized interprofessional plan of care aligned with ANA Standards of Practice. Evaluates patient/family educational needs and applies appropriate teaching strategies.
- Initiates patient discharge planning at the time of contact and facilitates smooth transitions to the next point of service/home.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all required information.
- Assumes an autonomous leadership role and delegates appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective patient care.
- Engages in professional development activities and seeks to continually advance knowledge and competence in nursing practice. Completes self and peer evaluations and participates in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigation, completing all position and unit safety-related competencies on time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
