Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I)
Location: Tampa, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings:
- Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Every 3rd Saturday: 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality patient care during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting and processing blood and other specimens while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The PSR I plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and trustworthy environment for patients seeking routine or life-impacting diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily patient service and specimen collection activities accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor
- Draw high-quality blood samples using established procedures and protocols
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and documentation
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence
- Explain procedures clearly to patients to alleviate concerns and build trust
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and confidentiality guidelines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and organizational commitment
- Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, staff, and the public
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
- Proficient in keyboarding and data entry
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience
- Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (Required)
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
