Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I)

Location: Tampa, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Every 3rd Saturday: 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM



Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality patient care during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting and processing blood and other specimens while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The PSR I plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and trustworthy environment for patients seeking routine or life-impacting diagnostic services.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily patient service and specimen collection activities accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor
  • Draw high-quality blood samples using established procedures and protocols
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and documentation
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients to alleviate concerns and build trust
  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and confidentiality guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and organizational commitment
  • Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, staff, and the public



Job Requirements

  • Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric populations
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
  • Proficient in keyboarding and data entry



Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
    • Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington



Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (Required)
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
