31-bed medicine floor providing acute care for patients with pulmonary and infectious diseases

Equipped with dual channel telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry

Patient population includes HIV-positive patients and adults with cystic fibrosis

Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5
Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Essential Duties

Education:

Identify and meet personal learning needs

Assess readiness and developmental level of patients/families/caregivers

Patient Assessment:

Recognize data from complex situations to set priorities

Planning:

Collaborate with patient/family to prepare/update plan of care

Use multidisciplinary resources for planning care

Address cultural and ethnic issues in care planning

Prioritize tasks for complex cases

Implementation:

Deliver care for patients with complex problems (physical, psychosocial, educational, safety)

Perform bedside point-of-care testing

Follow organizational standards, policies, and procedures

Organize/prioritize care; consult appropriate resources for complex cases

Evaluation of Care:

Identify expected patient outcomes

Seek guidance to revise plans as needed

Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
