Patient Population: Obstetric patients (approx. 180 births/month)

2:1 – Labor

Shifts Available:

Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Rotation Schedule: 6-week self-scheduling
-
Weekend Requirement: 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Floating: If willing, to postpartum
-
On Call: Not required
Responsibilities
-
Provide comprehensive nursing care to L&D and postpartum patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, addressing physical, psychological, developmental, social, and cultural needs.

Circulate and recover patients during procedures; scrubbing experience preferred.

Develop individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.

Initiate discharge planning at admission and ensure smooth transitions of care.

Administer and monitor nursing interventions, documenting patient responses and revising care plans as necessary.

Educate patients and families on health, recovery, and newborn care in alignment with readiness to learn and comprehension levels.

Serve as a preceptor/mentor to new staff and nursing students when needed.

Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.

Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, effective decision-making, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment.

Safely delegate tasks to appropriate team members while maintaining accountability.

Identify necessary supplies, equipment, and resources for optimal patient care.

Uphold hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care at all times.
Required Qualifications
-
Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience; experience in facilities with >200 births/month preferred.

Certifications:

BLS (Basic Life Support)
-
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
-
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
-
Advanced AWHONN (Fetal Monitoring)

Preferred Qualifications
-
Scrub experience in L&D procedures
-
Familiarity with Cerner and equivalent EMR systems
Summary:
This is a dynamic L&D role in a high-volume women’s services unit (41 beds, ~180 births/month). The RN will be responsible for labor, delivery, and postpartum patient care, circulating/recovering in procedures, and providing comprehensive support to patients and families. Strong assessment skills, adaptability, and collaborative teamwork are essential.
