Location: Marshall, TX 75670
Duration: 3 Months+ Contract (Possibilities of Extension)


Work Schedule: Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Work Type: Full-Time
 
Patient Population:

• Emergency Department (ED)
• Trauma
• Medical
• Critical Care
• Pediatrics

Preferred Experience:

• Moderate Sedation Competency
• EPIC Electronic Medical Record experience
• Triage experience

Float Requirements:

• May be required to float to other ED departments within the Good Shepherd system as needed

 
Position Summary:
The ED Nurse practices independently with awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Provides both routine and complex nursing care, manages contingencies in clinical situations, and makes appropriate assignments and delegations to other care providers.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Standards of Practice, using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor effectiveness and side effects.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Demonstrate leadership in self-management and in supporting others as applicable.

 
Requirements:
Education & Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year in a related nursing specialty preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

• RN License in Texas or compact state
• BLS (AHA) – required
• ACLS (AHA) – required
• PALS (AHA) – required
• TNCC – required

 
Position Requirements:

• New hires attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
• Precepted onboarding and competency validation in ED-specific skills
• Completion of annual competency verification requirements
