Job Summary
Provides professional nursing care in accordance with the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards and the State of Michigan regulations. Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Demonstrates ethical practice, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement while striving to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Education Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within designated timeframes based on facility and hire date
Experience
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency with computer hardware and software systems
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license State of Michigan (required upon hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) AHA or ARC
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Essential Functions
- Provides evidence-based nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and ANA standards
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
- Acts as a patient and family advocate
- Performs patient assessments and identifies care needs
- Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans
- Educates patients and families using appropriate teaching strategies
- Initiates discharge planning and coordinates transitions of care
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation
- Delegates appropriately to support safe and effective patient care
- Participates in professional development and quality improvement initiatives
- Supports patient safety and risk reduction activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
