Job Title: RN – ICU Step Down
Job Location: Elmhurst, NY, 11373
Job Duration: 4-5 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: 7:00pm - 7:30am
Pay Range: $70 - $75/hr. on w2

Job Summary:

  • Cares for patients transitioning out of the ICU who require higher acuity monitoring than a general Med/Surg unit.
  • Monitors patients with medical devices such as catheters, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, ventilators, and cardiac monitors.
  • Patient ratio: 1:4, caring for young adult to geriatric patients.
  • Performs frequent patient assessments and escalates changes in condition appropriately.
  • Responds to cardiac arrest and rapid response codes.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate Degree (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Evidence of graduation from an accredited National League of Nursing school.
  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Required Certifications:

  • New York State RN License.
  • Primary Source Verification of NYS RN License & Registration (NYSED).
  • AHA BLS.
  • AHA ACLS.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Two (2) years of Medical/Surgical Step Down experience.
  • Two (2) years of ICU experience.
  • Two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.
  • Two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.
  • Completion of age-specific competency.
Schedule:
  • 3 days per week, 11.5 hours per day (34.5 hours/week).
  • Must be able to work 3 flex shifts per week with alternating weekends and holidays.
  • 1-hour meal break per shift.
