Patient population includes trauma, transplant, plastics, oncology, obstetrics/gynecology, gastrointestinal, and orthopedics

Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a high-acuity surgical ICU setting.
Essential Duties

Education:

Identify and meet learning needs of self

Assess readiness and developmental level of patients/families

Patient Assessment & Planning:

Recognize and prioritize data from complex patient situations

Anticipate discharge needs and develop care plans with patients/families

Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care

Implementation:

Deliver care for patients with complex surgical/trauma conditions

Perform bedside point-of-care testing

Organize/prioritize care and consult appropriate resources

Follow organizational policies and procedures

Evaluation of Care:

Identify expected patient outcomes and revise plans as needed

Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions

Ensure continuity of care through effective communication

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience

Education

Required: Nursing Diploma OR ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing

Active RN license (North Carolina)

Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
