Job Description:
This is a float pool RN position with no assigned home unit or facility. Float assignments are centralized, originating from the float zone’s city center, and may change on a schedule-by-schedule basis.

Job Description:
This is a float pool RN position with no assigned home unit or facility. Float assignments are centralized, originating from the float zone’s city center, and may change on a schedule-by-schedule basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data
- Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes
- Develop and implement patient plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and according to nursing standards
- Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including (but not limited to):
- IV insertions
- Incision/wound care
- Medication administration
- Catheterization
- Specimen collections
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient
- Provide education to patients and families based on learning readiness, needs, and abilities; evaluate effectiveness of teaching
- Recognize the patient/designee as a full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated care that respects preferences, values, and needs
- Deliver relationship-based care that actively engages patients in their care and respects cultural differences and human diversity
- Delegate appropriately to non-RN personnel in compliance with State Board of Nursing and facility policies
- Utilize time, staff, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective care
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional standards
- Manage patient flow and resources by matching nursing competencies to patient/unit needs
- Follow standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines
- Function collaboratively within nursing and inter-professional teams, encouraging open communication and shared decision-making
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as required
- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education for ongoing professional development
- Maintain professional records to demonstrate competency and lifelong learning
- Evaluate nursing practice against standards and regulations, and take action to meet identified goals
- Participate in hospital and unit-based meetings and organizational initiatives
- Understand the value of measurement and quality improvement
- Use quality metrics to improve outcomes, patient experience, and safety
- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research initiatives
- Apply current healthcare research and evidence to improve clinical knowledge and performance
- Perform charge nurse duties when required
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- One year of experience preferred
- Demonstrated nursing skills and knowledge base appropriate to medical-surgical/telemetry specialty
Baseline Float Requirements:
- Floating may be required to any client location within a 60-mile radius of the original assignment location or within the client-defined float zone
- Float assignments may include duties outside of the original job description or skill set, per client policy
