Job Title: Senior Systems Analyst
Job Location: Richmond, VA
Job Duration: 11-12 Months (possibility of extension)

Key Responsibilities:

Installation & Environment Management:
  • Install, configure, and manage application infrastructure to support data teams.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Monitor system performance using data virtualization dashboards, logs, and external monitoring tools.
  • Conduct performance tuning of queries, servers, and data source connections.
  • Perform query profiling and troubleshooting slow queries.
  • Perform backups, recovery operations, and environment maintenance.
  • Apply object tagging, data classification, retention, and sharing policies.
Security & Access Management:
  • Manage authentication & authorization (user roles, ABAC/RBAC, LDAP/AD integration). Review & fix governance/security violations.
  • Enforce SSO integration, MFA, and access control policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and organizational data governance policies (SOX or regulatory compliance).
Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
  • Resolve complex application errors, connectivity issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of system health issues and query failures.
  • Work with application vendor support teams and manage different support cases till resolution.
Collaboration & Cross functional Support:
  • Work with data/systems architects, developers, DevOps, infrastructure, and business users on different aspects of application as support person.
Cost Management:
  • Monitor platform health, Snowflake credits, warehouse usage, and storage. Implement resource monitors and usage dashboards to prevent overspending.
  • Tune scaling policies to avoid unnecessary compute consumption.
  • Develop test cases and validate results for different applications supported by team.
  • Coaches and transfers knowledge to less experienced team members.
  • Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field is typically required.

Preferred Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience.

Preferred Companies/Industries:

  • Prior experience in the utilities industry.

Top Required Skills:

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Client, R, Python, PowerShell, or Perl. PowerShell and Perl are highest priority but should look for someone well rounded/experience in all.
  • Experience with Kubernetes/HA environments – start to finish and understanding of function of its connectivity and function in security, has to be able to diagnose if it breaks and fix it.
  • Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure – know the Client of the land, understanding what needs to take place if an issue takes place in the clouds, how it communicates, and cost associated with it.
  • Certifications specific to Snowflake, Informatica, Denodo, Dataiku – nice to have. First 3 are really nice to have/Dataiku can get later.

Soft Skills Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
