Experience: 1+ year in nursing, Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required
Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
 
Position Overview:
The RN provides competent nursing care to a variety of patients with health conditions ranging from simple to complex in a hospital setting. This role involves direct patient care, monitoring, documentation, and collaboration with physicians, patients, families, and support staff to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; record all changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain and monitor patient physiological data; observe for clinical changes and intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care in alignment with hospital protocols.
• Communicate with patients and families regarding care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions.
• Make referrals for additional care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain working relationships with team members.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.

 
Preferred Skills & Experience:

• N/A beyond the required skills.

 
Education & Licensure:

• Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program.
• Licensure: Current RN License from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

 
Work Environment Notes:

• Requires experience in Med/Surg and Stepdown units.
• Hospital-based role with direct patient care responsibilities.
