Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an assigned group of adult patients in an inpatient setting, primarily within the Critical Care Unit. This role adheres to standards derived from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010) and complies with hospital, state, and accreditation policies to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an assigned group of adult patients in an inpatient setting, primarily within the Critical Care Unit. This role adheres to standards derived from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010) and complies with hospital, state, and accreditation policies to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and provide direct nursing care per established standards
- Perform accurate head-to-toe assessments and routine evaluations
- Complete admission database and initiate care plans in accordance with policy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in discharge and transfer planning
- Accurately document all care activities, avoiding unacceptable abbreviations
- Comply with unit-specific and hospital-wide safety protocols and procedures
- Understand and apply the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and JCAHO standards
- Remain calm and efficient in emergency or unpredictable situations
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and escalate concerns to physicians
- Act as preceptor or charge nurse as needed
- Contribute to unit and hospital quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in professional development and continuing education
- Engage in community and organizational programs as a representative of HFM
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong customer service, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice typically acquired through an accredited nursing program
- Ability to remain composed and responsive in emergency situations
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Familiarity with electronic documentation and critical care environments
Education Requirements:
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Licensure & Certifications:

Required:
- Active Wisconsin RN License, or Compact Multi-State License
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or equivalent)
- Must complete Basic Rhythm Competency Test
