Payroll Assistant/Payroll Processor
Job Title: Payroll Assistant/Payroll Processor
Location: Bronx, NY 10461
Duration: 9 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
Schedule: 5 days/week, 7 hours/day, 35 hours/week
Work Setting: Onsite
Pay Range: $30-$33/hr.
Schedule Notes: Payroll Processor role onsite at Client Location. Flexible schedule required every other Friday (6:00 AM–2:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM).
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in payroll processing (including garnishments, taxes, and year-end activities)
• Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Experience calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and payroll deductions including tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefits (401k)
• Experience maintaining employee payroll records and managing time and attendance records
• Experience reconciling payroll records and assisting with payroll audits
• Ability to investigate and resolve employee payroll discrepancies and inquiries
• Analytical skills related to retro calculations of pay and time
• Ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee payroll data
• Knowledge of payroll compliance including federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Strong communication skills to work with HR, finance, and employees
Preferred Skills & Experience
• FPC or CPP certification preferred
• Experience using payroll and HR systems such as Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, or ADP
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
• Prior experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources environments

Job Summary
The Payroll Assistant supports payroll operations by processing payroll transactions, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and organizational policies. This role assists with payroll calculations, payroll record management, reconciliation, and employee payroll inquiries while ensuring accurate payroll processing and data integrity.
Job Responsibilities
• Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Assist in entering and paying wage garnishments
• Process property payroll transfer reports
• Ensure benefit deductions are accurate
• Conduct audits to ensure payroll accuracy and maintain data integrity
• Provide support to leadership team for accounting-related projects
• Accurately calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and payroll deductions
• Maintain employee payroll files and manage time-and-attendance records within payroll systems
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements
• Balance payroll records, review payroll transactions, and assist with payroll audits
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve payroll discrepancies
