Job Title: Cardiopulmonary Medical Assistant
Location: Salinas, CA
Duration: 3 Months+ (High Potential for Extension)
Shift: Day Shift | 8-Hour Shifts
Pay range: $22 - $30/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Cardiopulmonary Medical Assistant to support day-to-day operations in a high-acuity cardiology setting. This role reports directly to the Cardiology Supervisor or Director and plays a key part in ensuring seamless patient flow, accurate data handling, and outstanding service delivery. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate efficient patient flow through cardiopulmonary departments, including patient ambulation and preparation
- Answer incoming calls professionally and direct them appropriately
- Schedule and confirm inpatient and outpatient procedures, coordinating with physicians and related departments
- Register patients in Meditech, ensuring demographic data and documentation are accurate and up-to-date
- Verify authorizations and physician-signed orders, ensuring compliance with procedures
- Welcome patients using AIDET principles and provide procedure-related information as needed
- Prepare and distribute daily department schedules in advance
- Manage department calendars, meetings, and vendor coordination using Outlook
- Utilize PACS for imaging transfer and CD production
- Assist in preparing reports and hemodynamic logs for third-party coding
- Support quality improvement efforts through data collection and reporting
- Review billing logs and support corrections to ensure timely charge processing
- Help maintain clean, ready-to-use patient areas and aid in general resource efficiency
- Maintain department statistics and competency tracking systems
- Prior experience in a cardiology or clinical administrative support role preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems, including Meditech, and PACS technology
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of insurance authorization and billing processes
