Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I
Locations: Alamogordo, NM 88310-5210
Duration: 3 Months+ (Possible Extension)
 
SHIFT: Days: 7 AM – 7 PM
START: ASAP
 
REQUIRED – Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.
• Type of patients on the unit: Medical, Surgical, Respiratory.
• PALS and CPI certification preferred.

 
Blocked Scheduling Accommodated: No
 
Weekend Requirement:

• Schedules are for 6 weeks at a time.
• In that 6-week period, there is a requirement for 6 weekend shifts.

 
On-Call Requirement:

• There are 2 call shifts required in a 6-week period.

 
Floating Requirement / Locations:

• Floating is required when the need arises:
  • Medical/Surgical
  • Behavioral Health
  • Joint
  • Emergency Department

 
Nurse / Patient Ratio:

• IMC ratios are 4:1 if an aide is available.
• With no aide, the ratio is 3:1.

 
Summary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
 
Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Consistent with the ANA Product and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

 
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.

 
Position Requirements:
Education/Skills:

• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and a MedSurg-specific competency validation.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
• Skills completion and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program’s tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

Experience:

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
