Join our dedicated team at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC, where you will play a crucial role in managing our facility's wound care program. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment in the beautiful city of Greensboro, known for its rich history, cultural attractions, and welcoming community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the facility wound care program, ensuring alignment with national standards of care and practice.
- Provide direct patient care and support to staff nurses, and act as a consultative service to affiliated healthcare agencies.
- Develop and implement patient care protocols, documentation tools, wound care formulary, and WCC referral criteria.
- Establish standards of care, competencies, policies, and procedures in quality, cost-efficient, and effective wound care for all clinical staff.
- Act as the primary consultant to Wound Care Clinicians and provide ongoing education to staff on available products.
- Evaluate all wounds upon admission and ongoing to determine treatment plans and provide early problem identification.
- Consult on patients with pressure injuries and any wound that does not show measurable signs of healing within two weeks.
- Assist primary nurses in developing appropriate plans of care for comprehensive wound management and prevention.
- Make evidence-based recommendations to physicians for changes to wound care orders.
- Review medical records of patients with wounds to ensure proper documentation and treatment.
- Investigate adverse events related to wounds through root cause analysis and develop action plans.
- Participate in clinical outcome monitoring, follow-up, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Support Center Clinical Operations staff to maintain a cost-effective wound care formulary.
- Assist with training of new hire Wound Care Coordinators within the Hospital Division.
Facility Requirements
- Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Must have 2 years of recent Wound Care RN or Wound Care Coordinator experience in a hospital setting.
- Must have NC RN or multi-state RN license.
- Shifts will be (4) 10-hour days, with every other weekend. Start time is 7am-5:30pm.
