Job Summary:
The PAT RN provides comprehensive perioperative care and pre-admission testing (PAT) for surgical patients, with an emphasis on high-risk pregnancies. The RN performs assessments, clinical interventions, documentation, patient education, and ensures patient safety while collaborating with the perioperative team.

Pay Rate: $73/hr. on W2
Schedule:
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
- Must have previous travel experience with high-risk pregnancies in large hospital settings
Job Summary:
The PAT RN provides comprehensive perioperative care and pre-admission testing (PAT) for surgical patients, with an emphasis on high-risk pregnancies. The RN performs assessments, clinical interventions, documentation, patient education, and ensures patient safety while collaborating with the perioperative team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Assessment Skills
- Performs thorough, systematic, and accurate assessments for patients across the lifespan (Pediatric to Geriatric).
- Delivers patient care tailored to patient needs and developmental stages.

Clinical Skills
- Provides competent direct patient care and emergency interventions.
- Demonstrates proficiency with perioperative equipment and procedures.

Documentation
- Maintains complete, accurate documentation of nursing care, patient progress, and patient education in the medical record.

Professionalism
- Demonstrates professional practice and knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Identifies areas for clinical and professional growth.

Patient Satisfaction
- Responds courteously and professionally to patients, families, and co-workers.
- Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

Safety
- Follows National Patient Safety Goals, Universal Protocol, and uses proper patient identifiers.
- Demonstrates safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.

Unit-Specific Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical conditions, procedures, and anesthesia types.
- Individualizes patient care based on procedure and patient condition.

Responsibility & Accountability
- Prioritizes patient care according to patient needs and condition changes.
- Contributes to the perioperative team’s coordination of care.

Patient Education & Chart Completion
- Assesses patient understanding of procedures and instructions.
- Performs pre-op and post-op assessments and patient/family education.

PAT RN-Specific Duties
- Completes patient testing in a timely manner.
- Evaluates Pre-Admission Testing orders for appropriateness and completeness based on surgery, patient age, and health status.
Physical Requirements:
- As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- RN License – Required
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
Notes:
- Night shift assignment focusing on high-risk pregnancies
- Travel experience in large hospital settings preferred
