Phlebotomist Floater
Job Location: Frederick MD
Duration: 3+ months of Contract with (temp-to-hire)
Shift: Floater hours will very between 6:30am- 5:30pm
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist III – Float serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality phlebotomy services across multiple locations and care settings. This role requires advanced phlebotomy skills, leadership capabilities, and excellent customer service. The Float is responsible for drawing quality blood specimens, preparing them for testing, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly at various sites, including Patient Service Centers (PSC), In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), long-term care facilities, mobile sites, and home visits.
This individual acts as a mentor, trainer, and point of contact for site staff, and often serves as a lead phlebotomist in more complex or high-volume environments. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration with various departments including Sales, Billing, IT, and Lab Services.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections safely and skillfully from patients of all ages (including pediatric and geriatric populations).

Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.

Float between multiple sites to provide phlebotomy coverage and operational support as needed.

Create a welcoming and professional experience for patients, ensuring clear communication and reassurance during the collection process.

Serve as the on-site lead when necessary; supervise or assist other phlebotomists/Patient Service Representatives (PSRs) and ensure workflow efficiency.

Act as a coach, trainer, mentor, and onboarding resource for new employees and clients.

Handle high-complexity and high-volume practices that require specialized phlebotomy and customer-facing skills.

Communicate effectively across departments including IT, Logistics, Billing, and Sales to resolve client or patient concerns.

Ensure all daily activities and compliance requirements (HIPAA, OSHA, safety protocols) are completed timely and accurately.

Maintain strict patient confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions.

Qualifications:
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
-
Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
-
Phlebotomy certification (preferred); required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required)

Minimum 3 years working in a PSC or IOP environment (preferred)
Additional Requirements:

Reliable transportation to travel between assigned locations

Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
