12 beds are IMC, 22 beds are med surg level of care. RN travelers will not work in the IMC. Fast paced med surg unit with a specialty of surgical oncology. Intake/Output are critical, medication administration, assessment skills, critical thinking, drain care, TPN, complex dressings, ostomies, telemetry, cardiac drips, maintaining a safe environment of care, room cleanliness, hourly rounding, teamwork and professionalism are core values of R4. RNs & CNAs work together to coordinate patient care. Staff engagement on R4 is high, educational opportunities are common, debriefing and huddles are a part of our unit culture to maintain focus on patient safety.
