Job Title: RN - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Department: Cardio PICU
Location: Oakland, CA 94611
Contract Length: 13+ Weeks (Possible extension)
Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 3x12s
Pay Package: Best in Market
Stipends: Available for candidates residing 50+ miles from the facility
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics, and invasive lines (arterial lines, central lines, CVP, etc.)
- Manage ventilators, titrate vasoactive drips, and administer complex medication regimens
- Assist with pre- and post-operative care for pediatric cardiac surgery patients
- Perform rapid patient assessments and initiate emergency interventions as clinically indicated
- Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced critical-care equipment
- Educate and support patients’ families, providing clear clinical updates and compassionate guidance
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory standards
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and PICU best practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of cardiac nursing experience
- Minimum 5 years of recent, dedicated PICU experience (no floating)
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active RN license in the state where care is provided
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
