Job Summary:
The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, this role involves coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Education:
- Participates in identifying and addressing learning needs for self and the team.
- Attends educational programs based on identified needs.
- Uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assesses readiness to learn in patients, families, and caregivers.
- Evaluates developmental levels of patients and factors affecting learning abilities.
- Identifies expected patient outcomes.
- Seeks guidance in revising care plans when necessary.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
- Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrates competence in managing patients with complex health problems.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required for patient care.
- Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
- Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
- Consults with appropriate resources on complex care issues.
- Develops goals to promote professional growth and overcome limitations.
- Achieves goals within the identified time frame or renegotiates with the supervisor.
- Participates in unit goals, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care.
- Effectively uses communication systems.
- Provides feedback to coworkers and fosters collaborative teamwork.
- Recognizes data from complex situations and determines care priorities.
- Addresses physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Synthesizes assessment data to create a comprehensive care plan.
- Anticipates discharge needs and works with families to promote advocacy for patients.
- Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the care plan.
- Utilizes multidisciplinary resources for comprehensive care planning.
- Addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
- Prioritizes tasks for patients with complex health problems.
- Engages with current nursing literature to explore ideas and practices applicable to patient care.
- Brings relevant ideas and questions to the team for further discussion and evaluation.
- One (1) year of nursing experience.
- Not Applicable
- Nursing Diploma, or
- ADN or ASN from an accredited nursing school.
- BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC).
