Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU
Location: Bakersfield, CA
Contract: 3 Months+ (with Possibility of Extension)
Supervision: Reports to Nurse Leader (CNO, Clinical Director, Supervisor)
Pay rate: $67/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a nurse leader, independently provides nursing care to acutely ill patients by applying the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Practices in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and the California Nurse Practice Act. Delivers compassionate, patient-centered care that fosters trust and holistic healing through authentic presence and collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, therapeutic nursing care by independently prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care for assigned patients.
- Collect, document, and interpret patient data; recognize physiological and psychosocial risk factors; report deviations from normal parameters.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to prioritize nursing actions, anticipate changes, and activate emergency protocols as needed.
- Establish nursing diagnoses, formulate written care plans, and continuously evaluate and revise care effectiveness.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care activities, ensuring quality and adherence to evidence-based standards.
- Maintain compliance with infection control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participate actively in professional development, staff meetings, governance councils, and nursing practice evaluation.
- Maintain current knowledge and competence aligned with nursing best practices and hospital policies.
- Adhere to all regulatory and institutional standards including BRN licensure, ANA ethics, and facility-specific practice models.
- Monitor personal practice and assist in ensuring safety and compliance among colleagues.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in acute care.
- Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of California.
- Experience with Cerner EMR system.
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong knowledge of advanced nursing theories, medical terminology, instruments, medications, and narcotics.
- Must meet all health and competency requirements designated by the employing center.
