Job Title: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Stepdown (Float Pool)
Location: Cincinnati, OH 45219
Contract Duration: 3 + Months (Possibility of Extension)

Pay Rate: $50/hr. on W2

Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 3 shifts per week (12 hours each), every other weekend required
Hours per Week: 36
 
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients in the inpatient telemetry stepdown setting. Utilizing a comprehensive knowledge base drawn from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized patient care. The RN fosters an ongoing partnership with patients, families, and healthcare teams to deliver culturally and age-appropriate care following the standards of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Code of Ethics.
 
Unit Description:
  • Cardiac Medical Stepdown/6 South Unit:
    • 28-bed unit specializing in care of patients recovering from vascular and electrophysiology procedures.
    • Provides care for acute myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.
    • Offers cardiac monitoring services and manages intravenous medication titration.
    • Administers conscious sedation for cardioversions.
    • Nurses are ACLS certified and trained in ECG interpretation.
    • Ideal for nurses seeking ICU transition experience.
 
Float Pool Responsibilities:
  • Rotate between various specialized units, including:
    • Client University
    • Cardiopulmonary Stepdown
    • Heart and Vascular Stepdown
    • Comprehensive Medical Stepdown
    • Cardiology Telemetry Stepdown
 
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of stepdown nursing experience.
  • Proficient in interpreting heart rhythms and telemetry data.
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac drips such as:
    • Amiodarone, Lasix, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates continuing professional development and adaptability to change.
  • Provides culturally competent, age-appropriate patient education and care.
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs).
  • Care for post-open heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, and vascular surgery patients.
