TRAVEL: RN - POST ANESTHESIA CARE

Job Title: RN – PACU (Pre/Post-Op)

Location: Portland, ME
Unit: Periop Pre-Post
Duration: 13 Weeks

Schedule:

• 36 hours per week (48 hrs preferred)

• 12-hour Day/Evening shifts

• Every other weekend (day shift scheduled + call rotation)

Role Overview:
RN will provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing Cath/EP, OR, TEE, and CV procedures in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Must be flexible to float to Bramhall PACU, IMC, or ICU as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality Phase 1 post-anesthesia care (2:1 ratio; 3–4 patients in 23-hour stay).

• Manage cardiac drips, groin sites, epidurals, PCAs, IV therapy, A-lines, and tele monitoring.

• Interpret EKG and telemetry strips accurately.

• Support procedures including vascular, TAVR, robotic, pediatric cath, and cardioversion.

• Participate in rotating call and weekend coverage.

• Document in Epic EMR accurately and timely.

Requirements:

• Active RN license (ME or compact state)

• 3 years PACU and ICU experience (recent)

• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required

• Prior travel nurse experience strongly preferred

• Trauma Level 1 background

• Ability to float as needed

Unit Details:

• 40 pre/post beds + 9 overnight bays (23-hour short stay embedded)

• Equipment: IV pumps, PCAs, epidurals, A-lines, tele monitoring, TEE/CV

• Dress code: Any scrub color, fragrance-free (no artificial nails, no cell phone use on unit)

Pay/Shift Details:

• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM start time, variable end)

• Weekend day shift and rotating call every other weekend
