Job Title: Apheresis Registered Nurse
Location: Northridge, CA- 91320
Duration: Full Time
Shift: Days: 5:30 - 1: 30 Pm, 8*5 hours – 40 Hrs.
Pay Range: $41 - $51/hr. on W2
Note: With $5000/- sign on Bonus
Schedule: Monday - Friday, with some weekend work

The position is full-time, primarily. The centre offers a predictable schedule with some flexibility, closed on holidays, and provides three weeks of vacation and 64 sick hours per year.

Job Summary:
- The Registered Nurse will assume responsibility for the daily activities involved in the collection of plateletpheresis, leukapheresis, and whole blood.
- Partner with other donor room staff to ensure a smooth operation and efficient production of blood products.
- Must be able to interact with various departments to ensure integrity and quality of daily processes. Essential Responsibilities.
- Utilize applicable aseptic techniques to plan, perform, and chart the following procedures in accordance with Hema Care Donor Centre policies and procedures.
- Automated plateletpheresis and leukapheresis including set-up, run, quality control, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- White blood cell collections and other special procedures as required. • Whole blood procedures.
- Make appropriate adjustments to apheresis machines based on product integrity and physical status of donor.
- Expertise in venous access, identification and treatment of donor reactions.
- Expertise in blood donor medical history.
- Expertise in assessment of laboratory reports.
- Appropriate handling of information regarding positive test results.
- Work cohesively as a team member and at times in a non-verbal manner while under pressure and time constraints.
- Consistently manage self in ways that express professionalism.
- Demonstrate warmth and compassion in a meaningful manner.
- Understand and correctly use the Blood Establishment Computer Software (BECS).
- Responsible for the evaluation, management, and documentation of donor reactions, post donation reports, risk management reports and customer complaint forms.
- Provide technical and clinical guidance to staff as needed.
- Preparation of all paperwork related to daily production.
- Maintain positive communication with interacting departments.
- Ensure satisfactory completion of all donor records.
- Rigid adherence to all safety and quality protocols and regulation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience.
- 3 years previous blood banking, apheresis and phlebotomy experience preferred.
Certifications/ Licensure:
- Must have current state RN licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- Associate’s degree in healthcare required, BSN preferred.
