Travel: RN - Medical / Surgical

Job Title: Travel RN Medical / Surgical
Location: Alexandria, LA 71301
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift/Schedule: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM (Night Shift)

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Deliver care to MedSurg patients, primarily post-surgical (orthopedics, general surgery, neuro focus)
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor for effectiveness and side effects
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess and address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans and health management
• Delegate tasks appropriately and manage clinical situations effectively
• Float to other units as required
• Maintain nurse-patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing

Requirements:

• RN License in state of employment or compact
• BLS certification from AHA
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience with EPIC (preferred)

Preferences:

• Experience in MedSurg with post-surgical, orthopedic, general surgery, and neuro patients
• Ability to work weekends as required
• Flexibility to float between units
• Strong clinical judgment and independent practice skills
