Registered Nurse (RN) - MICU
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - MICU
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Duration: 3+ Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Flex Day and Night, every other weekend
Schedule: 3 Days Per Week, 36 Hours Per Week, 12-hour Shift
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse is a practitioner responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in the delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- BSN or nursing diploma required.
- Any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed RN experience must enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program within 15 months of hire and complete the program within 5 years of enrolment (or 6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD programs).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License (NLC participating state) required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to the MICU.
- ICU experience and Level 1 Trauma Center experience required.
- Knowledge of ventilator settings, intubations, and commonly used MICU medications (pressors, inotropes, sedatives, antihypertensives, analgesics, insulin, etc.).
- Familiarity with procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tubes, and drains.
- Experience managing MICU typical patient populations: respiratory concerns, airway watch, DKA, OD, suicide, EToH withdrawal, cancer, ARDS, ESRD, missed dialysis, electrolyte abnormalities, pancreatitis, COPD, asthma, and others.
- Must pass Basic Rhythm Interpretation (BRI) test with a minimum score of 85 upon start, or contract will be terminated.
- CCRN certification preferred.
