Job Title: Registered Nurse – Oncology (Ambulatory Clinic)
Location:
New York, NY
Department: Cancer Center – Breast Service
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day)
Pay Range: $52 to $65/hour negotiable (**Per-diem rates are also applicable for qualified candidates)

Role Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive care to oncology patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. Responsibilities include chemotherapy and therapeutic treatment administration, patient triage, care coordination, and patient education. The RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes, safety, and compliance with healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Procedures:
  • Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and conscious sedation.
  • Perform phlebotomy, IV/IM/SQ/oral/inhaled medication administration.
  • Access and manage central lines/ports.
  • Provide respiratory interventions and initiate CPR when necessary.
  • Assist with procedures specific to the oncology specialty.
  • Perform treatments aligned with Oncology Nursing Society standards.
Patient Management & Coordination:
  • Conduct patient assessment, diagnosis, care planning, and evaluation.
  • Triage sick and walk-in patients.
  • Coordinate inpatient admissions and ER referrals.
  • Manage patient flow, assignments, and medical record preparation.
Communication & Education:
  • Provide patient/family education on procedures, treatments, and home care.
  • Evaluate patient understanding through return demonstration/verbal feedback.
  • Deliver test results and follow-up plans in collaboration with providers.
  • Maintain clear, respectful communication with patients and team members.
Environment & Safety:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.
  • Monitor infection control practices and comply with safety regulations.
  • Promote patient safety and support a therapeutic care environment.
Qualifications & Certifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Current NY State Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical oncology nursing required.
  • Certifications:
    • Active Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy-Biotherapy Provider Card (required).
    • BCLS and ACLS certifications (required).
    • Specialty certification is strongly recommended.
