Travel: RN - Emergency Room

Job Title: Travel RN Emergency Room (Nights)
Location: Alexandria, LA 71301
Duration: 13 weeks (Contract | Temp to perm possible)
Shift/Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM | Every other weekend

• Provide independent nursing care in a very high-acuity Emergency Department.

• Deliver routine and complex patient care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation).

• Manage high-acuity cases including strokes, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, sepsis, and some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit).

• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.

• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.

• Accurately document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.

• Educate patients, families, and caregivers; assess learning needs and provide resources.

• Make appropriate patient care assignments and delegate tasks to support staff.

• Meet Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• No floating required.

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Active RN License in state of employment or compact

  • BLS certification required

  • ACLS certification required

  • PALS certification required

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Emergency Department or related nursing specialty preferred

• Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Other Requirements:

  • Attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days of hire

  • Complete Emergency Departmentspecific and organizational competency validations

  • Complete annual competency verification requirements

• High-acuity Emergency Department experience

• Comfortable with nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1

• Interest in potential temp-to-perm placement
