Process Level Department Description:
Wayne 3rd Floor is a fast-paced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an adult cardiac/med-surg patient mix, including CAD, CHF, and NSTEMI. The unit averages 3–4 admissions per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5. Critical thinkers thrive in this environment. Growth opportunities include PCCN certification, clinical ladder progression, and support for BSN/MSN education.

Job Summary:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
 
Job Responsibilities:

• Identify and meet personal learning needs; attend relevant education programs.
• Use patient education materials and assess readiness to learn.
• Identify patient outcomes and revise care plans as needed.
• Collaborate with team to evaluate care and ensure continuity.
• Provide safe, competent care for patients with complex needs.
• Perform point-of-care testing following standards and policies.
• Organize and prioritize care; consult resources for complex issues.
• Set and achieve professional growth goals; support unit objectives.
• Communicate effectively and provide feedback to coworkers.
• Promote safety, cleanliness, and cost-effective care.
• Assess patient needs, anticipate discharge, and support family advocacy.
• Plan care collaboratively using multidisciplinary resources and cultural awareness.
• Stay informed through journals and share ideas for practice improvement.

 
Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.

• Required: Nursing Diploma OR ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure:

• Required: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina, BLS (AHA or ARC).
• Preferred: N/A
