RN-Progressive Care Unit
Join our dynamic and fast-paced medical stepdown unit at Rex Hospital, located in the vibrant city of Raleigh, NC. Our team on Rex 4 East specializes in caring for patients with lung, kidney, and heart-related illnesses. With a 31-bed capacity, our unit provides 90% intermediate care and 10% MedSurg patient care, including acute overflow. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your nursing skills in a supportive environment.
Job Summary
As a Clinical Nurse, you will deliver competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, you will coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Essential Duties
- Education: Participate in identifying and meeting your learning needs. Attend education programs and use patient education materials relevant to our patient population.
- Evaluation of Care: Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed. Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Implementation: Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems. Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
- Leadership: Develop goals to promote professional growth. Participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Patient Assessment: Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities. Develop relationships with families to advocate for patient needs.
- Planning: Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update the care plan. Use multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
- Research: Engage with journals and studies applicable to practice. Share ideas and questions with the team for assessment.
Required Skills & Experience
- One (1) year of nursing experience.
Education
- Required: Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
Certifications & Licensure
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).
Shift: Nights, 7p-7a
FTE: 0.9
Weekends Required: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Holidays Required: Every Other Holiday (EOH)
Start Date: 05/12/2025
Hours Per Week: 36.00
