Job Description – Registered Nurse (RN) – Physician Office
Location : Cincinnati OH 45227
Schedule: Monday – Friday - On site
Shift: Day Shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours Per Week: 40 (5 Day X 8 Hours)
Work Setting: Physician Office / Outpatient Clinic Environment.
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical nursing support within a physician office setting by assessing patients, assisting providers during examinations and procedures, coordinating patient care, managing follow-up activities, and ensuring accurate documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. The RN supports patient education, medication management, clinical triage, and emergency response while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical nursing support within a physician office setting by assessing patients, assisting providers during examinations and procedures, coordinating patient care, managing follow-up activities, and ensuring accurate documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. The RN supports patient education, medication management, clinical triage, and emergency response while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to determine medical concerns and document findings within the EMR system.
- Obtain and record vital signs including weight, blood pressure, and other clinical measurements.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures as needed.
- Explain procedures, treatments, and care plans to patients to promote understanding and reduce anxiety.
- Manage lipid testing, protimes, and phone triage for patient concerns.
- Follow up on physician orders, laboratory requests, imaging results, and prescribed treatments.
- Communicate test results and physician recommendations to patients while providing education and clarification.
- Document nursing history, physical assessments, treatments, and services performed within the EMR for clinical and billing purposes.
- Observe patient conditions and reactions to medications or treatments and notify the physician or supervisor of significant changes or incidents.
- Support physicians in the clinical care and ongoing management of patients.
- Initiate and maintain individualized patient education plans based on physician direction and patient needs.
- Abstract and manage patient records using EMR functions including tasking, messaging, and disease management workflows.
- Utilize Centricity and other software applications to support nursing operations.
- Respond to emergency situations according to nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain crash cart, defibrillator, and emergency equipment readiness.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Diploma of Nursing or Prefer BSN
- Ohio RN License or Compact.
- BLS (American Heart Assoc.)
- Experience using defibrillators, blood pressure monitors, EKG equipment, treadmills, and crash cart maintenance. Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience administering IM and SQ injections.
- Knowledge of obtaining summary of benefits and handling insurance appeals for medications.
- Experience managing FMLA/disability forms.
- Ability to communicate high-level lab and imaging results to patients.
- Strong patient triage and clinical communication skills.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience.
- Previous experience in a physician office or outpatient clinical setting.
- Experience with Centricity EMR.
- Experience working with diabetic patient populations.
