Job Title: RN - Intensive Care Unit
Location: Eden, NC 27288
Duration: 3 Months+ (Possibilities of Extension)
 
Department: RHC ICU – 9-bed general ICU
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
FTE: 0.9 (36 hours/week, 3 shifts)

On-Call: No
Weekends: Every other weekend (EOW)
Holidays: Every other holiday (EOH)
Interview Type: Auto Offer
 
Department Overview:
  • 9-bed general ICU caring for traumatic or critically ill patients.
  • Care involves specialized hemodynamic and respiratory monitoring and equipment.
 
Required Compliance / Licenses:
  • RN License (North Carolina)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
 
Education:
Required:
  • Nursing Diploma OR ADN/ASN from accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
  • BSN or MSN from accredited school of Nursing
 
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
 
Job Summary:
Provides competent clinical nursing care in accordance with professional standards. The RN reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinates patient care using the nursing process.
 
Essential Duties:
Education:
  • Identify and meet learning needs of self.
  • Attend educational programs.
  • Use patient education materials with assistance.
  • Assess readiness and developmental level of patients/families.
 
Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Revise plan of care as needed with guidance.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote continuity of care through effective communication.
 
Implementation:
  • Care for patients with complex problems (physical, psychosocial, educational, safety).
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing.
  • Follow policies and procedures in delivering care.
  • Prioritize and organize patient care.
  • Consult resources for complex care issues or high-risk discharges.
 
Leadership:
  • Develop professional growth goals.
  • Contribute to unit goals and performance improvement.
  • Give feedback to coworkers.
  • Promote safe, clean, and secure environment.
 
Patient Assessment:
  • Synthesize complex data to prioritize care.
  • Assess discharge needs.
  • Build relationships with families to support patient advocacy.
 
Planning:
  • Collaborate with patient/family on care plans.
  • Consider cultural/ethnic factors.
  • Prioritize tasks for patients with complex needs.
 
Research:
  • Read relevant journals and bring insights to staff for practice improvement.
