Duties:
- Position is fully remote.
 - Nonlocal candidates can be submitted, but work must be performed during Client business hours.
 - The ideal candidate will have an understanding of how Epic Cogito & Clarity work and be able to track Epic build records.
 - Preferred candidates will have a combination of project management skills and Epic Cogito build experience.
 - The first phase of this project is to identify build records and work with analysts to identify the impact on existing dashboards.
 - The second phase of the project may involve implementing Epic Radar dashboards and/or updating existing Radar dashboards impacted by these build changes.
 
Job Summary:
The Business Data Architect (BDA) is a role that blends the disciplines of data architecture, business architecture, and business analysis.
This role is critical to supporting an efficient and effective transformation program at Client by analyzing the current state and creating a strategic roadmap to a future state that meets data requirements and drives value recognition for data and analytics.
Individuals in this role will:
- Lead transformation workstreams and serve as the bridge between business operations, IT, and data reporting teams.
 - Translate business needs and clinical processes into data management principles and models.
 - Ensure a conscious, proactive approach to process and data changes within the Epic ecosystem.
 
This position is part of the central Client analytics team with broad exposure to systems such as Epic, along with clinical workflows and business processes.
Key partners include clinicians, project managers, analysts, and developers across domains.
The BDA will inform the design, build, and support of Epic implementations in alignment with a robust enterprise data strategy.
This is an individual contributor/lead role within a larger team focused on building a sound data framework to enable data-driven clinical operations and analytics.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Partner closely with analytics consumers and business stakeholders to gather business requirements that inform data source modeling and foundational table design.
 - Document business processes, system business requirements, and functional requirements.
 - Serve as a trusted analytics partner in key clinical and operational workstreams across the enterprise.
 - Facilitate discovery sessions with stakeholders to evaluate current state Epic builds, data models, and database designs.
 - Identify the target future state with documentation outputs including business/functional requirements and business process maps.
 - Research, evaluate, and document databases, data models, and implementation details while determining limitations and downstream impacts of proposed changes.
 
Education:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Business, or related quantitative field.
 - Preferred Education: Master’s degree.
 - Required Certifications & Licensure: Certification in Epic Clarity data model and other Epic clinical or financial data models.
 - Preferred Certifications & Licensure: Epic Cogito PM certification.

 - Present detailed reports to leadership outlining efforts and impact of remediation recommendations.
 - Create critical workstream deliverables including business process maps, business and functional requirements, data lineage documentation, and Architecture Decision Documents.
 - Provide a traceability matrix of key leadership decisions, including valuation of trade-offs.
 - Translate business requirements and operational practices into data collection and management processes.
 
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data warehousing, designing multi-layered data warehouses and data marts using relational and dimensional modeling techniques.
 - 8+ years of experience in data integration at both logical and physical levels.
 - 8+ years working with multiple DBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Teradata, etc.).
 - Proven ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
 - Assertive yet diplomatic communication style; excellent written and oral communication.
 - Strong understanding of Data Governance, data lineage, and metadata management.
 - Excellent consultative, presentation, and conceptualization skills.
 - Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
 - Skilled in Erwin, Toad, or other Data Modeling tools.
 - Strong project management and data architecture expertise.
 - Proven experience eliciting requirements and developing conceptual and logical data models.
 - Strong technical and business documentation abilities.
 
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and model development using SQL, R, or Python.
