Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - MICU
Location: Milwaukee, WI, 53226
Duration: 3 Months+ (Possible extension or a Full time thereafter)
Shift: Flex day and night
Schedule: 3 Days Per Week, 36 Hours Per Week, 12-hour shifts, Every other weekend, 0.9 FTE
Job Summary:
- The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
- MUST PASS BRI (Basic Rhythm Interpretation) test with a score of 85% or above once they start; contract will be terminated if not passed.
- CCRN preferred.
- Knowledge Requirements: Ventilator settings, intubations, gtts commonly seen in MICU (pressors, inotropes, sedatives, antihypertensives, analgesics, insulin, etc.), paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tubes, drains.
- MICU Typical Patient Population: Respiratory concerns, OF, BiPAP, COPD, asthma, airway watch, DKA, overdose, suicide, EToH withdrawal, cancer population, ARDS, ESRD, missed HD, electrolyte abnormality, pancreatitis, etc.
- ACLS Required. PALS Not Required.
- ICU experience and Level 1 trauma center experience required.
- Required: ASN
- Non-BSN nurses with less than one year of RN experience must enrol in a BSN (or higher) program within 15 months of hire and complete within 5–6 years depending on program level.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Current Wisconsin RN License or Multi-state Nursing License under NLC
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Clinical competence and experience in care and management of patient populations specific to MICU
- Professional nursing knowledge equivalent to graduation from an accredited nursing school
