Job Duration: 3+ Months Contract (With Possibility of Extension)
Schedule:
- Shift: 8 hours, Monday through Friday.
- Includes: After hours, weekends, and holidays.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to function independently in all GI procedures and GI procedural areas.
- Must be able to perform all Advanced GI procedures independently — including ERCP and EUS, and Bronchoscopies, ION Robot, and EBUS.
- Must be able to fully function alone while on call.
- Must live and support Ochsner’s values, always putting patients first, supporting the team and facility as a full-time employee would.
- Must always practice effective communication skills and provide safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Experience:
- Required: 2+ years in specialty.
Education:
- Required: Registered nurse diploma.
- Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Certifications:

Required:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Job Duties:
- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
