Assessment Skills:
- Competent knowledge of all normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric.
- Delivers patient care appropriately.
- Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.

Clinical Skills:
- Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills.
- Performs direct patient care activities supporting patient care delivery and team concept.
- Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.

Documentation:
- Maintains complete and accurate documentation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines.
- Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient progress, including patient education.

- Demonstrates professional practice responsibility.
- Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Identifies areas for clinical and professional growth.

Patient Satisfaction:
- Responds to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, and positive manner.

- Identifies patients using 2 patient identifiers.

Unit-Specific Job Function:
- Demonstrates knowledge of conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients.
- Individualizes patient care according to procedure and anesthesia type.
- Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.

Responsibility and Accountability:
- Contributes to the perioperative team by directing patient care.
- Prioritizes patient care depending on needs and condition changes.

Patient Education and Chart Completion:
- Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures/instructions.
- Actively includes patients and family members in teaching.
- Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.

Duties Specific to PAT RN:
- Supports completion of patient testing in a timely manner.
- Evaluates Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current health.
