Job Title: RN - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Location: Oakland, CA 94611
Contract Length: 13+ Weeks (Possible extension)
Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 3x12s
Pay Package: Best in Market
Stipends: Available for candidates residing 50+ miles from the facility

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
  Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics, and invasive lines (arterial lines, central lines, CVP, etc.)
  Manage ventilators, titrate vasoactive drips, and administer complex medication regimens
  Assist with pre- and post-operative care for pediatric cardiac surgery patients
  Perform rapid patient assessments and initiate emergency interventions as clinically indicated
  Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
  Operate and troubleshoot advanced critical-care equipment
  Educate and support patients’ families, providing clear clinical updates and compassionate guidance
  Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory standards
  Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and PICU best practices

Required Qualifications

  Minimum 5 years of cardiac nursing experience
  Minimum 5 years of recent, dedicated PICU experience (no floating)
  Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  Active RN license in the state where care is provided
  BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
