Duties:
- Meets all eligibility requirements of a Registered Nurse I.
- Works under the supervision of the Director.
- Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individualized care in a patient care area according to departmental policies, procedures, and Nurse Practice Act.
- Individualizes patient care based upon age-appropriate and developmental needs.
- Accepts responsibility for directing co-workers in implementing the plan of care.
- Collaborates with physicians, patients/families, and healthcare team members in delivering a plan of care.
- Utilizes positive communication skills.
- May be required to work on other nursing units according to staff and patient distribution.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes nursing assessment of patient and documents appropriately in patient record.
- Develops plan of care based on patient assessment and developmental needs.
- Collaborates with physicians and health team members in developing plan of care.
- Provides, delegates, and coordinates plan of care.
- Initiates, manages, and participates in discharge planning.
- Initiates, manages, and participates in patient/family teaching.
- Demonstrates implementation skills per policies and procedures.
- Evaluates and updates patient’s response to plan of care.
- Maintains professional standards by participating in inservices, committees, and performance improvement activities.
- Facilitates physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual care of the patient.
- Utilizes positive communication skills to effect conflict resolution and teamwork.
- Contributes to cost-effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment, and supplies.
- Complies with safety policies and procedures to provide a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors.
- Demonstrates flexibility regarding changes in hospital or unit activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patient age.
- Acts as preceptor and charge nurse as assigned.
- Actively participates in achieving departmental goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year Clinical Registered Nurse experience preferred in specialty areas.
Skills & Certifications:
- Heavy experience with Client, neuro, robotics (daVinci), and bariatrics programs.
- Experience with open hearts, TAVRs, eyes, gyn, general, ENT, thoracic, vascular, endovascular, and plastics.
- Scrub skills a plus.
- Current California RN license – Required.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status per American Heart Association standards – Required.
- ACLS – Preferred.
- Scrub and circulate both preferred.
- No RTO preferred during 9/15 – 11/26; all requests will be reviewed.
- Epic experience required: Minimum 6–12 months within the past year.
