Job Title: Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Reno, NV 89511
Start Date: July 28, 2025
Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts
Start Date: 07/28/2025
Pay Rate: $80/hour
Duration: [13-week assignment with possibility of extension)
Role Overview:
The CVICU RN will deliver specialized critical care to post-operative open-heart surgery patients, including those on advanced cardiac support devices. This high-acuity role requires expertise in managing IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) and Impella, as well as Day 0 care following open-heart procedures. Nurses must demonstrate expert clinical judgment, rapid response capabilities, and the ability to lead in a high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide post-op Day 0 care for open-heart surgery patients

Manage advanced cardiac devices including IABP and Impella

Continuously assess and respond to complex hemodynamic changes

Interpret and manage cardiac arrhythmias

Coordinate with multidisciplinary care teams and respond to emergent situations

Delegate responsibilities effectively in a critical care setting

Maintain accurate documentation and uphold all safety and compliance standards
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license (Nevada or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience – Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) – Required
