Job Title: BONE DENSITY TECHNOLOGIST
Location: Salinas, CA 93901
Shift: Days 8*5 - 40hrs weekly
Pay: $80/hr
Duties:
The Bone Density Technologist works under the supervision of Mammography Center Manager. The Tech develops and implements improved processes and protocols as it relates to the bone density program. Performs bone density procedures in accordance with Radiation Practice standards, ACR, The Joint Commission and departmental policies. The Tech performs and/or assist with Quality Assurance activities related to bone density. Performs any combination of the primary duties depending within area of assignment
Skills:
1. Performs bone density exams a daily basis under facility approved policies and procedures and in accordance
with Radiation Practice Standards, and ACR,
2. Works with the Medical Director and Manager to improve Bone density processes, protocols and policies.
3. Serves a primary resource for office managers and office staff regarding bone density questions.
4. Obtains or reviews patient’s medical history and physician orders prior to performing studies, and notifies
appropriate staff of inconsistencies.
5. Explains procedures to patient and completes comprehensive documentation.
6. Consistently selects appropriate technical factors from technique charts and operates equipment in accordance
with prescribed Radiation Safety Practices.
7. Prepares completed bone density studies for interpretation in a timely manner (takes exam to close status)
including appropriately identified images and all associated forms.
8. Able to perform and/or assist with Quality Assurance activities related to bone density.
9. Reports changes in patient’s condition to Radiologist for follow-up. Assists with emergency medical treatment
under physician direction.
10. Assists with scheduling of patient exams, if needed.
11. Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
